Ethel Dover, 106, celebrated in Vernon for longevity
Ethel Dover, a 106-year-old resident of Vernon, British Columbia, is being recognized in honor of National Centenarian Day. Born in Winnipeg in 1920, Dover has led an active life, including a solo bicycle trip from Vernon to Vancouver and climbing the North Shore Mountains as a member of the Vancouver Climbing Club.
Currently residing at the Aspira Orchard Valley Retirement residence, Dover is noted for her sense of humor and love of reading. For her 105th birthday in 2025, she received 156 cards from across Canada. Her advice for a long life is to “make the most out of life,” cherish family and friends, and “always be kind.”
