Ethel Kennedy’s life and legacy explored in new memoir

Kerry Kennedy has released a new memoir titled ‘Ethel Kennedy: The Extraordinary Life and Bold Legacy’, which explores the life and personal history of her mother, Ethel Kennedy.

The book details Ethel Kennedy’s upbringing in Connecticut and her marriage to Robert F. Kennedy in 1950. Kerry describes her mother as ‘extraordinarily chic, fun, funny, fully alive’ and highlights the partnership she shared with Robert. The memoir also touches upon the family’s deep political roots and the challenges of raising 11 children.

Additionally, the book recounts the close friendship between Ethel Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy. The two women, who became part of the Kennedy family in the 1950s, shared a bond strengthened by mutual experiences of loss. Kerry Kennedy recalls a ‘beautiful and tender’ final visit that she and her mother shared with Jackie Kennedy before her death in 1994.
