Institutional crypto ETF holdings rise as Ethereum inflows surpass Bitcoin

Institutional interest in digital assets is shifting as major financial firms increase their exposure to cryptocurrency ETFs. Edelman Financial Engines has disclosed a $34 million position in spot Bitcoin ETFs, a strategic allocation that exceeds its $25 million investment in Amazon. Similarly, Tudor Investment Corporation has increased its stake in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, holding approximately 688,529 shares valued at $22.9 million.

In a notable trend reversal, spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $365 million in net inflows during July 2026, significantly outpacing the $205 million attracted by Bitcoin ETFs. This shift suggests institutional investors are increasingly viewing Ethereum as essential infrastructure for stablecoin settlement and staking yields. Meanwhile, Solana has also gained traction within the institutional sector, with various spot ETFs now available for trading.

On the product innovation front, Cboe BZX Exchange has filed with the SEC to list the first triple-leveraged Bitcoin and Ether ETFs in the United States. These proposed funds, managed by Volatility Shares, would utilize CME futures to target triple daily returns. This development comes as Bitcoin spot ETFs recently experienced several days of net outflows.
