Cryptocurrency markets face volatility as Ethereum and Cardano show diverging trends

Major cryptocurrencies Ethereum (ETH), Cardano (ADA), and Bitcoin (BTC) are experiencing significant market volatility and diverging network metrics.

Ethereum is currently trading near the $2,500 support zone. While spot Ether ETFs have seen recent net outflows, large-scale investors, or whales, have been accumulating significant amounts of ETH. Analysts note that Ethereum remains a dominant force in DeFi, though its supply has recently shifted from deflationary to slightly inflationary due to lower transaction fees on the main chain.

Cardano is facing downward pressure as large holders reduced their combined balances by over 110 million ADA within a five-day period. This whale selling coincides with a 41% drop in daily active addresses. However, the network reached a significant milestone in Epoch 660, processing over 1.78 million transactions, a record that surpasses the previous high set in November 2021.

Bitcoin and Ether have both recently defended key support levels following waves of leveraged liquidations. Market participants are closely monitoring upcoming US economic data and ETF flows to determine if these rebounds signal the end of recent price corrections.
