Ethereum market activity shows shifting funding rates and long account shares
Ethereum (ETH) has experienced significant shifts in its derivatives market. On October 24, the funding rate for the ETH perpetual contract on OKX reached a non-positive reading of approximately minus 0.00002 percent, marking the first time since October 13 that buyers have not paid a premium for leveraged long positions.
Despite this drop in the funding premium, other market snapshots indicated that Ether held the largest share of long accounts among five major cryptocurrencies at 75.9 percent. This figure surpassed XRP, Solana, Dogecoin, and Bitcoin. While the vanishing premium suggests a thinning of speculation on rising prices, market data showed Ether's mark price at approximately $2,371 during certain trading periods, with a total market value of $280.9 billion.
