Ethereum shows divergence as liquidity hits seven-month low

Ethereum is experiencing a divergence between its market price and network utility. On the Binance exchange, the Ethereum Liquidity Shock Z-Score has dropped to approximately -1.00, marking its lowest level in seven months. This decline in liquidity suggests a shift in market structure, potentially indicating that investors are moving assets from exchanges to private wallets, which may reflect a long-term holding strategy rather than immediate selling pressure.

Despite price volatility, Ethereum's underlying network activity remains robust. Data from CryptoQuant shows that the total number of smart contracts on the network has surpassed 72 million, an increase of over 12 million since the beginning of the year. Additionally, daily active addresses have maintained a consistent range, largely staying between 300,000 and 500,000, with occasional spikes exceeding 1 million. These metrics suggest that while the asset's price fluctuates, the fundamental development and usage of the blockchain infrastructure continue to grow.
