Ethereum staking reaches record 33.8% of supply as market tightens
Since the start of the year, more than 11.8 million ETH have been locked in staking, worth roughly $22.4 billion at current prices. The total amount staked now stands at about 41.2 million ETH, representing 33.8 % of the circulating supply—a rise of 4.5 percentage points over the same period. An additional 2.4 million ETH are queued for entry, while exit requests are virtually absent, further limiting short‑term sell‑off capacity.
At the same time, the Ethereum Implied Volatility Index is around 54.7, well above the realized 30‑day volatility of about 38. This gap suggests that options traders expect larger price moves in the coming weeks, even as the cryptocurrency posted a 22.2 % gain in July compared with Bitcoin’s 10.2 % rise.
