Ethereum whale uses Aave leverage to expand ETH position

A large-scale Ethereum trader, identified by the address 0xdeA6, has significantly increased its holdings through a leveraged strategy. According to data from Lookonchain, the whale recently purchased 4,000 ETH, valued at approximately $9.4 million, and deposited the tokens into the Aave lending protocol to serve as collateral.

Following the deposit, the trader borrowed $6 million in USDT, transferred the funds to Binance, and used them to purchase additional ETH. This process, often referred to as looping, has brought the wallet's total deposits to 22,504 ETH, valued at roughly $53.17 million, against approximately $31 million in borrowed stablecoins.

While this strategy demonstrates high conviction in Ethereum's price action, analysts note the inherent risks. Using cryptocurrency as collateral for stablecoin loans exposes the trader to liquidation if the price of ETH drops significantly, as the value of the collateral would decrease relative to the debt.
