Ethiopian Airlines expands operations in Nigeria

Ethiopian Airlines is expanding its operations in Nigeria by increasing flight frequencies and introducing a new service to Port Harcourt. This expansion brings the airline’s total weekly flights in the country to 53.

Under the new schedule, services to Lagos have increased to 21 weekly flights, providing up to three daily services. Frequencies to Kano have also risen by four, totaling 11 flights per week. The new Port Harcourt route will consist of four weekly flights, adding to the airline's existing network in Abuja, Enugu, Lagos, and Kano.

Firiehiwot Mekonnen, General Manager of Ethiopian Airlines in Nigeria, stated that the increased capacity demonstrates confidence in the Nigerian aviation market and its economic potential. She noted that the expansion is intended to provide passengers with greater flexibility, better connectivity, and more competitive fares, while also stimulating local economic activity in sectors such as tourism, trade, and ground handling.
