Ethiopian Boki Deriba Sets New Record at Rabat International Marathon

The 9th edition of the Rabat International Marathon in Morocco drew a record field of about 25,000 runners, featuring elite athletes and mass participation. Ethiopian Boki Deriba (also reported as Diriba) broke the men’s marathon record with a sustained, fast pace in the final kilometres. In the women’s race, his compatriot Meseret Abebayehu Alemu claimed victory.

Moroccan athletes also shone in the shorter events: Yaacoub Labqira won the men’s half‑marathon in 1:01:32, while Oumaima Hadri took the women's 10‑km title. The race course passed prominent city landmarks and was praised for its organization, security, medical support and volunteer involvement, drawing thousands of spectators and creating a festive atmosphere throughout Rabat.
