Ethnic communities in Vietnam celebrate National Day with traditional customs

Ethnic minority communities in Vietnam are celebrating National Day on September 2nd through traditional customs and cultural gatherings.

In Phu Tho province, the Muong people in Lac Son maintain long-standing traditions, including family reunions, the preparation of traditional foods like 'banh uoi' (made from sticky rice, mung bean, and banana leaves), and the use of gongs and folk songs. Local leaders note that these celebrations serve to educate younger generations about national history and traditional values.

In Lai Chau province, the Ta Mung market in Muong Kim commune hosted a vibrant fair to mark the occasion. The event featured approximately 131 stalls showcasing local agricultural products, food, and handicrafts. The market also included a cultural space dedicated to Hmong traditions, featuring creative works by local students to help preserve and pass down cultural heritage to the youth.
