Ethnic minority cadres drive rural development in Vietnam

Ethnic minority cadres within the Vietnam Fatherland Front are playing a critical role in implementing government policies and driving socio-economic development in remote highland regions. In one province, over 72% of the more than 1,500 local Fatherland Front working committees are composed of ethnic minority members. This workforce has successfully mobilized residents to donate over 150,000 square meters of land and contribute more than 200,000 man-days for new rural construction, contributing to an average poverty reduction rate of over 4% per year.

These cadres serve as a vital link between the government and local communities by using their understanding of local customs and languages to explain policies effectively. Their involvement has led to a success rate of over 85% in local dispute mediation. Individual examples, such as Ninh Van Phuc in Binh Lieu, highlight how dedicated party members use personal example and persistent communication to gain community consensus for infrastructure projects, such as land donations for public roads, which facilitate trade and improve local livelihoods.
