ETI completes first seed harvest of drought-resistant wheat

ETI has completed the first seed harvest of ‘Kanatlı Buğdayı’, a wheat variety developed to withstand drought and climate crisis conditions. The project was initiated in 2004 by the Eskişehir Geçit Kuşağı Agricultural Research Institute and developed through a collaboration between ETI, TÜBİTAK, and TAGEM.

ETI Global CEO Ercan Öz stated that the wheat plays a critical role in protecting the future of the food sector, noting that recent severe droughts have validated the importance of this investment. The company has expanded its contract farming model from an initial 1,800 decares with 11 farmers to a production area of 350,000 decares.

As a recognized ‘Private Sector Agricultural Research Organization’ by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, ETI provides technical consultancy, seeds, and fertilizer to farmers, while offering purchase guarantees and free transportation for products meeting quality criteria.
