Etiene Medeiros wins gold in 50m backstroke at South American Games
Brazilian swimmer Etiene Medeiros won the gold medal in the 50m backstroke at the XIII South American Games (ODESUR) in Santa Fe, Argentina. Medeiros set the championship record for the event with a time of 28.38 seconds.
This victory marks her first appearance representing the Brazilian national team since returning to competitive swimming following the birth of her son. In a closely contested final, she finished ahead of Argentinian swimmers Cecília Dieleke and Andrea Berrino.
Medeiros, a former world champion in the event, expressed her excitement about returning to the national team and stated that this performance strengthens her focus on the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
