Etihad Rail boosts UAE travel with new Abu Dhabi bus routes and faster Abu Dhabi‑Fujairah service
Etihad Rail has introduced two new public bus routes, MR1 and MR2, linking Abu Dhabi’s Main Bus Station and Al Zahya Bus Station directly to the Mohammed bin Zayed City Train Station. The routes provide coordinated connections with the rail network, which began passenger operations on 30 June 2026, linking Abu Dhabi and Fujairah with up to 200 km/h trains that complete the journey in about 1 hour 45 minutes.
The rail launch has cut weekly commutes for residents such as university student Amna, who previously faced a six‑hour round‑trip drive to an internship in Abu Dhabi. Shuttle services, including an AED 10 bus, also connect the station with key city locations like ADNOC headquarters, ADNEC and Reem Mall. Further expansion is planned from 30 November, extending passenger services to Liwa and Zayed cities, enhancing integrated public transport across the UAE.
