Etihad Rail launches passenger service between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah
Etihad Rail announced the start of passenger train operations on the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah corridor, with a trial run scheduled for 30 June (year noted as 2026 in one report). The service will initially run between Fujairah and Mohammed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi, covering the journey in about 1 hour 45 minutes at speeds up to 200 km/h.
Bookings opened through the Etihad Rail mobile app and website, drawing over 5,000 reservations within the first two days and making the app the most‑downloaded free app in the UAE. Introductory fares start at AED 55 for Comfort Class and AED 120 for Premium Class, offering guaranteed seating, Wi‑Fi, power outlets and luggage space.
The network will expand in phases: service to Dubai and Al Dhaid is slated for 30 September, to Al Dhafra stations from 30 December, and to Sharjah by March 2027, with additional stations planned later. Trains will accommodate up to 400 passengers, feature accessible facilities, and provide on‑board amenities such as free Wi‑Fi and charging ports.
