Etihad Rail expands UAE passenger network to connect Dubai and Abu Dhabi
Etihad Rail has significantly expanded its passenger network in the United Arab Emirates, recently connecting Dubai to Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. Following strong initial demand, the rail operator added six extra services between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, providing over 2,000 additional seats for the weekend of October 3 and 4. Fares for the Dubai-Abu Dhabi route start at AED 39 for Comfort Class and AED 109 for Premium Class, with journey times approximately 64 minutes.
To support the growing network, Etihad Rail has partnered with Parkin and Q Mobility to implement smart parking solutions across its stations. This initiative aims to use digital technology and artificial intelligence to manage infrastructure and improve the passenger experience. The first phase of smart parking will cover stations in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Dhaid, and Fujairah.
The network is designed for seamless intermodal connectivity. Dubai’s Al Yalayis station features a pedestrian bridge connecting to the Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station, allowing passengers to integrate rail travel with the Dubai Metro. Future expansions are planned, with new stations in the Al Dhafra region scheduled to open by late 2026 and a Sharjah station expected in early 2027.
