Etihad Rail launches UAE passenger service between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah

Etihad Rail has opened its first passenger route in the United Arab Emirates, linking Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. The journey takes about 1 hour 45 minutes, and more than 10,000 tickets were sold before the service began. Trains offer Wi‑Fi, charging ports and luggage storage, and the launch is intended to ease road congestion and support tourism.

The operator also announced travel rules for pets, allowing dogs and falcons in approved carriers not larger than 55 × 40 × 23 cm. One carrier counts as the standard carry‑on and must stay with the passenger; assistance dogs are permitted with advance booking. Restrictions also cover weapons, hazardous materials, alcohol, smoking devices, bicycles and e‑scooters.

Future phases will add additional stations such as Al Dhafra, expanding the national rail network across the UAE.
