Aaron McKenna wins IBF middleweight world title in Dublin

Aaron McKenna claimed the vacant IBF middleweight world title with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Etinosa Oliha at the 3Arena in Dublin. McKenna, known as ‘The Silencer’, extended his professional record to 21-0, earning scores of 118-110, 117-111, and 116-112. Following the win, McKenna expressed his ambition to dominate the 160-pound division, aiming to emulate legends like Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

The event, part of the Zuffa Boxing 10 card, also featured a notable performance by Callum Walsh, who defeated Tyler Denny via unanimous decision. Walsh recovered from an early knockdown to secure the win with scores of 98-91 and 96-90.

Mckenna’s victory marks a significant moment for Irish boxing, as he becomes the first Irish world middleweight champion in over three decades. He now looks toward potential future matchups, including a mandatory defense against Amari Jones.
