Etna Forum 2026 to address Southern Italy's political future
The second edition of the Etna Forum is scheduled to take place in Ragalna from August 26 to 30, 2026. The event will focus on national and regional political themes, strategic territorial visions, and the future of Southern Italy. Scheduled panels include discussions on Sicily as a European border regarding defense, development, and immigration, as well as debates on Sicilian politics involving various regional leaders and deputies.
Separately, Cateno De Luca, leader of Sud chiama Nord, has asserted his political influence in Sicily. In an interview, De Luca dismissed the concept of a traditional political 'center,' claiming his movement acts as a decisive factor rather than a mere coalition component. He noted that Sud chiama Nord is currently the third party in Sicily and emphasized that his movement seeks to exert real political impact rather than participating in alliances solely to meet electoral thresholds.
