Etne municipality projects 15 million NOK surplus for 2026
Etne municipality is projected to achieve a net operating surplus of approximately 15 million NOK in 2026, representing a three percent operating result. This financial position is driven by increased hydroelectric power revenues, which have risen from a budgeted 11 million NOK to over 20 million NOK for 2026, and improved expenditure controls.
The municipal director, Åsmund Andersen Sekse, has presented a budget proposal for 2027 that forecasts a surplus of roughly 9.5 million NOK. Additionally, the municipality has successfully reduced annual overspending in municipal sectors from 23 million NOK to 11 million NOK, alongside a decrease in sick leave rates.
Planned investments for 2027 total approximately 48 million NOK, including projects such as the completion of upgrades at the Skånevik care center. The municipality also holds around 100 million NOK in investments and a discretionary fund of approximately 50 million NOK. Furthermore, an investigation by the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) suggests Etne may be entitled to additional annual revenue from power taxes related to the Blåfalli plants.
