eToro to acquire TradeZero for up to $231 million to expand U.S. presence

Trading platform eToro has announced an agreement to acquire U.S.-focused brokerage TradeZero in a cash-and-stock deal valued at up to $231 million. The acquisition, which is expected to close in the first half of 2027 subject to regulatory approval, aims to accelerate eToro’s expansion in the United States by strengthening its trading infrastructure and retail customer base.

TradeZero, founded in 2015, serves active traders and operates in the U.S. and Canada. The company reported approximately $80 million in revenue over the last twelve months with an 81% gross margin. eToro CEO Yoni Assia stated the combination provides a “faster path to launching new products for US customers.”

The announcement coincides with eToro’s second-quarter financial results, which showed a 77% year-on-year increase in GAAP net income to $53 million, beating Wall Street estimates. However, the report also highlighted a significant decline in cryptocurrency activity, with July crypto trades falling 73% compared to the previous year. Stronger equities trading helped offset the reduction in crypto-related contributions.
