Etruscan painted terracotta exhibition to open at Santa Severa

An exhibition titled ‘I Colori che Ritornano. Un patrimonio ritrovato’ is set to open on September 12, 2026, at the Castello di Santa Severa. The exhibition brings together precious painted Etruscan terracotta slabs from Cerveteri, which were recovered through investigations by the Carabinieri Command for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and the Guardia di Finanza.

The collection includes significant finds, including 110 fragments returned to Italy from the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen following a 2016 cultural cooperation agreement. These artifacts, dating between 530 and 480 BC, represent the aristocratic world of Caere and showcase the influence of Eastern Greek artisans on Etruscan decorative techniques.
