Etsushi Toyokawa and Tomoko Yamaguchi reunite for ‘undo’ 4K remaster
Actors Etsushi Toyokawa and Tomoko Yamaguchi, alongside director Shunji Iwai, reunited in Tokyo for a stage greeting celebrating the 4K remaster release of the film ‘undo’. Originally released in 1994, the film is being brought back to theaters after 32 years.
During the event, the cast reflected on the intense filming conditions of the 1990s. Toyokawa recalled that production schedules were often unpredictable, noting that some documents listed the end time simply as ‘until it ends’. Yamaguchi described the atmosphere of the production as being akin to a ‘film research club’, where the primary focus was a shared passion for filmmaking regardless of the grueling hours.
Toyokawa expressed mixed emotions about the re-release, stating that while it is a joy to have past work viewed, it is also ‘very embarrassing’ as an actor. Yamaguchi noted the pressure of appearing in a film after such a long period but expressed excitement about the project’s return.
