Etten-Leur begins Superflex project to expand power grid and charging hub

The municipality of Etten-Leur has commenced preparations for the Superflex development project at the Vosdonk industrial estate. This large-scale initiative aims to expand the local electricity network and establish a public charging hub to support the electrification of commercial and passenger vehicles.

Following the municipality's acquisition of the former Saica complex in late 2025, work is underway in collaboration with energy provider Enexis. A portion of the site has been sold to Enexis for the construction of a new 2,500-square-meter distribution station.

Beyond energy infrastructure, the project explores various uses for the site's existing buildings and grounds, including pilot programs for robotics, artificial intelligence, circularity, and digitalization. The development is part of the 'Toekomstbestendig Vosdonk' action program, which focuses on innovation and resource management within the manufacturing industry.
