Etten-Leur implements new youth care and social support measures
The municipality of Etten-Leur is implementing various measures to improve youth care and social support services (Wmo) following a 2025 study by Bureau HHM. In the first half of 2026, the municipality began developing more collaborative facilities under the Wmo framework.
Looking toward 2027, Etten-Leur plans to work with three care providers to focus more specifically on results, which will include the implementation of a new monitoring system. The municipality is also investigating whether Wmo consultants should provide lighter, direct support themselves, with research results expected in early 2027.
In the youth care sector, the municipality has been piloting a transition from individual to group arrangements for specific care profiles. Additionally, two small-scale residential facilities have been established in the region, including one in Etten-Leur, to reduce the need for closed placements in intensive youth care. The ‘normalization’ project, part of the Youth development plan, is also set to continue into 2027.
