Ettore Messina nears return to NBA with Atlanta Hawks

Renowned Italian basketball coach Ettore Messina is reportedly nearing an agreement to return to the NBA as a technical consultant for the Atlanta Hawks. This move follows his departure from Olimpia Milano in June, where he served as both head coach and President of Basketball Operations.

In Atlanta, Messina will reunite with Quin Snyder, who previously served as an assistant to Messina at CSKA Moscow. Messina brings extensive NBA experience to the role, having previously worked with the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs.

His new position is expected to allow for geographic flexibility, as he will split his time between Atlanta and Italy. In addition to his advisory role with the Hawks, Messina will continue his work in Italy as a television analyst for Sky Sports.
