EU 2028-2034 Budget Framework Debated at Milan Industry Forum

Business leaders from Confindustria and its regional branches met with members of the European Parliament and local officials in Milan to discuss the EU's 2028‑2034 Multiannual Financial Framework. The round‑table highlighted priorities for economic growth, industrial competitiveness and territorial cohesion, urging the EU to maintain stable and predictable cohesion funding.

Representatives stressed the need to simplify procedures, reduce paperwork and speed up assessments for projects. They called for the European Fund for Competitiveness to adopt an industrial focus, measuring success by production capacity, jobs created and stronger supply chains rather than research outputs alone. The Piedmont delegation noted that its regional FESR programme involves more than 3,300 firms and over €400 million for the 2021‑2027 period, illustrating the importance of coherent funding for local enterprises.
