EU AI Act targets high-risk recruitment algorithms and digital identity threats
The European Union's AI Act classifies recruitment and workplace algorithms as high-risk. This classification aims to prevent discrimination and ensure that automated decisions regarding hiring, resume screening, and employee performance monitoring do not reinforce biases related to age, gender, or ethnicity.
Parallel to regulatory efforts, discussions are emerging regarding the protection of digital identity. As deepfake technology advances, the concept of a ‘facial trademark’ is being explored to protect individuals' faces and voices, which increasingly hold economic value. Experts highlight the growing necessity of maintaining authenticity in a digital landscape where AI-generated content can convincingly mimic human likeness and speech.
