EU allocates €5.4 million for Montenegro-Kosovo cross-border projects
The Montenegrin Ministry of Finance has contracted the full €5.4 million allocation from the European Union's Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA III) for the first call of the Montenegro-Kosovo Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2021–2027.
The funding will support 12 selected projects involving institutions, organizations, and local communities from both Montenegro and Kosovo. When including co-financing from project partners, the total value of these initiatives exceeds €6.6 million. Individual grants range from approximately €327,280 to €599,770, with project durations expected to last between 24 and 30 months.
The projects focus on two primary development areas: employment for youth and vulnerable populations, and the development of sustainable tourism. Additionally, the initiatives aim to enhance local cooperation and the preservation of cultural and natural heritage through the exchange of knowledge and shared resources.
