EU Ambassador discusses GSP Plus extension and trade with Pakistan

European Union Ambassador Raimundas Karoblis met with Pakistani business leaders to discuss expanding economic and commercial relations, specifically focusing on the extension of the GSP Plus trade facility.

During discussions with the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) in Lahore, the Ambassador emphasized that Pakistan must demonstrate progress in implementing legislation and conventions related to human rights, labor rights, governance, and environmental issues to secure the GSP Plus status beyond 2027. He noted that the textile industry has shown positive compliance regarding sustainability issues.

In a separate session hosted by the All Pakistan Business Forum (APBF) in Islamabad, Karoblis highlighted the potential for increased exports through product diversification and value addition. He expressed the EU's interest in strengthening investment and business linkages, particularly through technology transfer and joint ventures between Pakistani and European companies.
