EU ambassador Mihalis ROKas hopes for Macedonian election‑law consensus

EU ambassador Mihalis ROKas said he is optimistic that today’s talks among Macedonian political parties will produce a consensus on amendments to the election law, a key element of the country's reform agenda. He highlighted that the reforms involve €4.2 million that could benefit citizens and are tied to the broader EU enlargement process.

ROKAS noted that parties meet daily but remain divided, and he urged a breakthrough before the deadline, saying, “I really hope a consensus will be reached.” He added that progress on the election‑law changes would strengthen Macedonia’s case for opening accession negotiations with the EU.
