EU Ambassador Roland Kobia calls for aid transparency in Madagascar
Roland Kobia, the European Union ambassador to Madagascar, has called for improved management of international aid amid a global scarcity of funding. Kobia emphasized that Madagascar must demonstrate greater efficiency, transparency, and commitment to fighting corruption to maintain the trust of its international partners. He urged local authorities to accelerate ongoing reforms.
Following a tour of various regions in Madagascar, Kobia highlighted the importance of field diplomacy to understand local realities. His mission included inspecting infrastructure projects, such as the recently completed RN6 road, and visiting Antsiranana. In Antsiranana, he observed activities related to the arrival of the Spanish military frigate ‘Numancia’, which is operating under the European Union’s Atalanta maritime security mission.
