Polish defense industry secures major satellite and vehicle agreements

During the MSPO 2026 International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce, several strategic agreements were signed to bolster Poland's defense capabilities and industrial sovereignty.

ICEYE and Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) have entered into an agreement to develop a military MILSATCOM satellite communication system. Planned for implementation between 2026 and 2030, the project aims to create a distributed, fully encrypted space segment and domestic ground infrastructure under Polish control. Prime Minister Donald Tusk described the initiative as a potential ‘Polish Starlink’ that will serve as a pillar of national security.

In the automotive and heavy machinery sector, JELCZ signed multiple agreements to increase the use of domestic technologies in military vehicle chassis. This includes a partnership with Daimler Truck AG, which involves the licensed production of power units in Poland by WSK ‘PZL-KALISZ’ S.A. Additionally, Daimler Truck Defence and PGZ signed a memorandum of understanding to support the local assembly and servicing of Mercedes-Benz engines in Kalisz, with production expected to begin next year.
