EU and six nations launch initiative to strengthen multilateralism

The European Union, alongside Australia, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, India, and Kenya, has launched the ‘Partners for Multilateralism’ initiative to strengthen international law and multilateral cooperation.

Announced on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, the initiative aims to address global challenges—including climate change, global health, technological transformation, and international security—through collective action rather than unilateral efforts.

EU Council President Antonio Costa stated that the initiative is intended to bolster the United Nations and other multilateral institutions, emphasizing that collective responses are necessary to turn shared principles into concrete results.
