EU, Brazil Sign Digital Partnership to Boost AI, Data Cooperation

The European Union and Brazil have signed a "Digital Partnership" agreement to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence, data governance, digital infrastructure, online platforms and digital public services. The pact, signed in Brazil's capital, also includes an administrative arrangement between EU Commission units and Brazil's National Data Protection Agency to enhance the protection of children online. Under the agreement, both sides recognise each other's data‑adequacy decisions, allowing companies, public authorities and researchers to share data securely without additional obligations. Officials said the partnership will help build more efficient and resilient global supply chains and contribute to an inclusive, rules‑based digital governance system.

The deal reaffirms a long‑standing relationship in the digital field, with the parties having previously agreed on mutual data‑adequacy in January 2026 and committing to continue collaboration on emerging technologies.
