EU Climate‑Mobility Workshop in Poreč, Croatia Focuses on Integrated Transport Planning
The European Climate Initiative (EUKI) organized a workshop in Poreč, Croatia under the CLIMove – Co‑creating Climate and Mobility Sustainability project. Participants examined integrated spatial and transport planning, emphasizing accessibility, safe active mobility, and connected transport systems aligned with climate and social goals. The event highlighted the inadequacy of traditional funding and promoted linking municipal budgets to climate targets through mechanisms such as green bonds, ESCO models, participatory budgeting and blended finance.
Speakers, including Gordana Lalić, CEO of the municipal construction company of Poreč, stressed that climate resilience is a present responsibility requiring strategic planning. The workshop aimed to shift planning from sectoral, reactive approaches to systematic, interdisciplinary methods and to explore innovative financing for climate‑neutral mobility measures.
