EU culture ministers meet in Oulu to discuss future work plan

European Union culture ministers are convening in Oulu, the European Capital of Culture, to discuss the upcoming Cultural Work Plan for 2027–2030. Key agenda items include the impact of artificial intelligence on the creative sectors and the protection of creative freedom.

Estonia is participating in the meeting to advocate for the role of culture in societal resilience and crisis preparedness. Representatives will highlight the importance of protecting small languages and cultural identities within the digital landscape, ensuring creators receive fair remuneration and transparency in an AI-driven environment. The discussions also aim to strengthen strategic cultural partnerships, such as the one between Estonia and Finland, and explore culture as a driver for regional development and the creative economy.
