EU Disburses €2.8 bn to Ukraine in Seventh Aid Tranche
The European Commission has released a seventh tranche of about €2.8 billion to Ukraine under the EU’s Ukraine Facility, part of a broader €50 billion support programme running to 2027. The payment, approved after Kyiv met a set of reform benchmarks in public finance, the judiciary, financial markets, energy, agriculture, digitalisation and the green transition, is intended to fund core state budget needs and humanitarian priorities.
Commissioner for enlargement Marta Kos said the speed and commitment of Ukraine’s reforms justified the disbursement. With this tranche, total EU assistance to Ukraine reaches €29.5 billion, roughly 77 % of the funds allocated under the first pillar of the mechanism. The aid package follows political changes in Hungary that had previously stalled payments, allowing the EU to accelerate support, including a pending €5.9 billion package and a €90 billion loan framework for 2026‑2027.
