EU End‑of‑Life Vehicle Regulation Drives Circular Economy Push at Autopromotec Dialogues in Italy

The European Parliament approved a new End‑of‑Life Vehicle (ELV) regulation that redefines the automotive life cycle, mandating 85 % recycling and 95 % recovery of vehicle material, and setting recycled‑plastic targets of 15 % within six years and 25 % within ten (with at least 20 % from closed‑loop sources). The regulation will take effect 24 months after formal EU Council adoption.

The first Autopromotec Dialogue was held at the Automobile Club Milano, opened by ACI Milano president Pietro Meda and moderated by Lifegate editor Roberto Sposini. Speakers included Lorella Volpato (ADA), who noted Italy’s demolition sector already exceeds 85 % reuse and recycling; Luca De Vita (ANFIA) and Manuela Crippa (Stellantis‑SUSTAINera), who stressed the need for ecodesign and the value of circular‑economy spare parts; GiPA Italia representatives highlighting strong French consumer acceptance of recycled components; and Daniele Bresolin (Bresolin Spa) on digital traceability and hazardous‑liquid handling. Autopromotec CEO Enrica Lazzarini closed the session, positioning the dialogue series as a platform to examine the industry's transition toward sustainability ahead of the 31st Autopromotec exhibition in Bologna (26‑29 May 2027).
