EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos Announces Progress for Four Candidate Countries

On 14 July 2026, European Commission Commissioner for enlargement Marta Kos announced that Albania, Moldova, Montenegro and Ukraine have each reached a decisive stage in their negotiations to join the European Union. The announcement was made at a press briefing and described the simultaneous advancement of key negotiation chapters for the four candidate countries. Kos referred to the day as “Super Tuesday”. The declaration was delivered without prior notice to French parliamentarians or the French government.
