EU Entry/Exit System implementation causes inconsistent border controls

The flexible implementation period for the European Union’s Entry/Exit System (EES) has officially expired, raising concerns regarding potential border delays for travelers entering the EU.

Reports indicate inconsistent application of the system across different borders. In Croatia, authorities are conducting checks upon entry, though they are reportedly not performing them upon return. In contrast, Greece has not yet implemented the specific controls, likely due to the high volume of travelers during the current season.

For organized bus tours, the EES requires passengers to exit their vehicles to undergo individual passport and facial recognition checks. While the system may cause initial delays, officials note that travelers who have already been registered will benefit from faster processing in future seasons as their data is already stored in the system.
