EU Extends 'Made in Europe' Benefits to Cars from UK, Japan and South Korea

The European Union has reclassified finished automobiles produced in the United Kingdom, Japan and South Korea as legally equivalent to EU‑made vehicles. While these cars cannot carry the “Made in Europe” label, they will enjoy tariff‑free treatment and access to the same policy and financial incentives provided to EU manufacturers.

The move is intended to prevent car makers from relocating production out of the EU amid a harsh U.S.–EU trade dispute over automotive imports, and to strengthen a network of trusted partners that can collectively counter China’s dominance in rare‑earth supplies and electric‑vehicle battery components.
