EU fines Google €890 million for Digital Markets Act breaches

The European Commission imposed an €890 million (about $1 billion) penalty on Google for violations of the Digital Markets Act concerning its search service and Play Store. A separate study of more than 220 military‑oriented mobile applications found that 64 % contain third‑party software components and 40 % collect or share more data than disclosed, with some code traced to Huawei and Yandex. Additional threat alerts highlighted abuses of location data, hijacked IP cameras, a Microsoft 365 outage, and recent name changes among threat actors targeting Google services.
