EU Funding Boosts Polish Regions with Infrastructure and Green Innovation Grants

Nine municipalities in Poland’s Podlaskie region received EU cohesion‑fund support for 11 projects, totalling roughly 30 million złoty. The grants target renewable‑energy installations, energy‑system modernisation and the revitalisation of public green spaces in towns such as Łomża, Kolno, Piątnica and others.

The European Union also approved a reform of the Research Fund for Coal and Steel, raising annual resources to about €120 million and committing roughly €800 million through 2034. The programme aims to foster green‑technology research and industrial innovation in coal‑dependent areas, notably Silesia, with MEP Borys Budka stressing its role in the energy transition and job creation.
