EU funds could trigger investment boom in Hungary, says Éva Palócz
Éva Palócz, CEO of Kopint-Tárki, discussed the potential impact of European Union funds on the Hungarian economy. The availability of these funds, facilitated by EU concessions, could trigger a significant investment boom as early as this year, potentially affecting both the current central budget and the 2026 fiscal year.
The discussion also addressed the 2026 supplementary budget and recent government announcements regarding fiscal savings, following an initial 1,000 billion forint reduction and a proposed additional 300 billion forint saving. Other economic topics included the necessity of interest rate adjustments by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, favorable exchange rates for exporters, and the future of utility price reductions and price caps.
