EU funds drive infrastructure projects in Kaposvár and Hollópatak

In Kaposvár, Hungary, a complex development project is underway to improve residential areas. Funded by a 550 million forint non-reimbursable European Union grant through the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Program Plus, the initiative aims to alleviate parking issues, modernize roads, and upgrade public lighting. The project also focuses on accessibility to improve the living environment and urban mobility.

In the Slovak village of Hollópatak (Mlynky), which has a permanent population of only 16 people, significant development projects have sparked discussion. Using 50,000 euros from rural development funds, the village has constructed a modern playground, solar lighting, and community rest areas. Critics have noted the discrepancy between these high-tech infrastructure investments and the village's demographic reality, where basic services like water, sewage, and gas networks are still lacking and the number of children is extremely low.
