European Union leaders to convene in Dublin for AI summit

European Union leaders are scheduled to meet in Dublin on November 13 for an informal summit focused on artificial intelligence. The meeting, held under the Irish presidency of the Council of the EU, aims to analyze the opportunities and transformative risks AI poses to European economies and societies.

European Council President António Costa has invited the 27 heads of state to discuss strategic challenges, including reinforcing European competitiveness and sovereignty. Key topics include reducing critical dependencies, enhancing domestic AI capabilities, and developing necessary infrastructure supported by clean energy and large-scale investment.

The summit will feature external guests, including Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch, to discuss Europe's position in the global AI landscape, and Nobel laureate Geoffrey Hinton, who will address the broader societal impacts, security, and trust issues related to the technology.
