EU LIFE projects advance in Italy with e‑bike delivery and dune protection initiatives

The municipality of L'Aquila handed over two electric pedal‑assist bicycles to the University of L'Aquila as part of the EU‑funded LIFE2M project, which aims to promote sustainable micromobility for university staff and foster low‑impact travel within the academic community. Mayor Pierluigi Biondi highlighted the delivery as a concrete step toward a more innovative and environmentally friendly city.

In the town of Calopezzati, representatives of Legambiente, the municipal administration, the University of Milan and other partners met to outline actions under the LIFE terrAmare programme. The initiative seeks to protect and enhance the Camigliano Dunes, a Natura 2000 coastal habitat, through integrated research, sustainable management and community involvement, with funding from the EU LIFE programme and regional sources.
