EU-Mercosur Trade Deal Promises Export Growth for Argentina's Santa Fe

In a seminar in Puerto Amarras, officials highlighted the European Union's provisional activation of its trade agreement with Mercosur. EU commercial counselor Inmaculada Montero Luque said the deal could raise Mercosur exports to Europe by 17% by 2040, but noted the need to meet strict technical and sanitary standards.

Santa Fe provincial minister Gustavo Puccini emphasized Argentina's large export capacity and called the agreement a state policy for internationalisation, while warning that the country is absent from negotiations on routes and fiscal contributions. Industry leaders pointed out that Argentina already meets high sustainability standards and that adding value to agriculture, mining and manufacturing will be crucial for future growth.
